Membership approves amendments to the JWN bylaws
Motions passed at February 13, 2007 JWN general meeting
The following motions were considered in order at the JWN meeting. Each motion was
passed by at least a 2/3 majority vote.
Each motion references specific changes in the "mark-up" language for the JWN bylaws
and also specifies when the referenced amendment(s) go into effect.

The following sections of the JWN bylaws are amended as shown in “ProposedAmendments February 13, 2007” for the stated purposes.
Article I, Section 4 to clarify how an emergency general meeting can be called.
Article I, Section 5 to clarify the use of Robert's Rules of Order.
These changes shall take effect immediately upon adoption of the amendments.
Article II, Section 3 and Section 4, Subsection a of the JWN bylaws are amended as shown in “Proposed Amendments February 13, 2007” to change Executive Board terms to
one year.
These changes shall take effect for all board positions immediately upon adoption of the
amendments, and all current terms shall end as of the April 2007 regular elections.
The following sections of the JWN bylaws are amended as shown in “Proposed Amendments February 13, 2007” for the stated purposes.
Article II, Section 1 to:
a) Change the Executive Board from 9 to 7 members
b) Change elected officers to include Chair and Vice-chair
c) Clarify that board members must be JWN members
Article II, Section 5 to establish the duties of the Chair and Vice-chair; to establish the
designation of the Neighborhood Leaders Council representative; and to provide for a
Chair Pro-Tem.
Article II, Section 6 to establish the designation and duties of the Secretary.
Article II, Section 7 to establish the designation and duties of the Treasurer.
These changes shall take effect as of the April 2007 regular elections. In the event a board
position becomes vacant prior to the April 2007 regular elections, it shall not be filled until
the April 2007 regular elections.
Article II, Section 4, Subsections b through j of the JWN bylaws are amended as shown in “Proposed Amendments February 13, 2007” to set forth the conduct of special and general
elections of the Executive Board.
These changes shall take effect immediately upon adoption of the amendments.
Article II, Section 8 of the JWN bylaws is amended, and Section 9 is deleted, as shown in “Proposed Amendments February 13, 2007” to clarify Executive Board vacancies.
These changes shall take effect immediately upon adoption of the amendments.
The following sections of the JWN bylaws are amended as shown in “Proposed Amendments February 13, 2007” for the stated purposes.
Article II, Section 2 to clarify nomination procedures.
Article III, Section 2 to clarify emergency board meeting procedures.
Article IV, Section 3 to establish the appointment of an Editor.
Article V, Section 1 to clarify committee procedures.
The changes to Articles II, IV, and V shall take effect immediately upon adoption of the
amendments.
The change to Article III shall take effect as of the April 2007 regular elections.
