Help plan infill compatibility standards by sharing your views
What special characteristics make your neighborhood a great place to live?
What types of incompatible infill development threaten the character and livability of
your neighborhood?
The JWN is currently conducting a process to develop a recommendation for
development standards that will encourage positive characteristics of our neighborhood
and will prevent negative impacts from incompatible residential infill.

On November 22, 2008, the first of two workshops was held to build on prior work
identifying positive characteristics and potential negative impacts. We'd like to gather
perspectives on these issues from other JWN members, too.
Please click the link below to take a very brief survey.
Here's a guide to the survey questions:
* Name, address, etc. Please provide the requested information.
A name and residence address is required. The survey is limited to JWN members (you
must live or own property in the JWN area or be the principal of a business located in the
JWN).
* What were the most important positive characteristics of the neighborhood that
drew you to live here, buy property, or locate your business?
Feel free to include any characteristics, with special attention to the physical qualities of
the structures, the natural environment, the neighborhood layout, etc. Your answers to
this question will help us create a comprehensive description of the neighborhood
character.
* What significant negative impacts have you experienced or seen from incompatible
residential infill? What types of impacts would cause you to consider moving from
your current home, selling property you own, or relocating your business?
Feel free to include any impacts, whether or not you've actually experienced them. Your
answers to this question will help us create a comprehensive list of the types of negative
impacts that most concern JWN members.
* What kinds of development standards do you think would help assure new
residential infill development is compatible with the neighborhood character and
doesn't cause significant negative impacts?
Development standards address such things as lot dimensions and sizes, building
heights and setbacks from adjacent properties, number of dwellings allowed on a lot, lot
coverage and open space, on-site parking, etc. Your answers will help us identify which
standards should be part of the JWN recommendation.
